Who we are… Since 1989, Arizona Disabled Sports (AzDS), also know as Mesa Association of Sports for the Disabled, has been
dedicated to providing year round sports and recreation opportunities for individuals with all types of disabilities. AzDS has been a leader in
providing quality special events and sports competitions on the local, national and international level. AzDS provides ten adaptive sports and
recreation programs for individuals with physical disablilities including amputee, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and spinal cord injury. The
organization serves as the Mesa delegation of the Special Olympics and provides sports and recreation opportunities to individuals with
intellectual disabililities including autism, down syndrome and mental retardation.
Twenty years of experience has shown that participation in adaptive sports and recreation programs results in increased quality of life,
self-esteem, mood and coping skills, respect for themselves and others. Twenty-one million Americans have a physical or visual disability and
only 10% of those individuals are participating in daily activity. Arizona Disabled Sports teaches individuals with disabilities to focus on the
possibilities rather than the limitations and encourages each individual to get off of the sidelines.

Why... The 5K/10K event has been created to support and raise money for Arizona Disabled Sports (AzDS). The primary
mission of AzDS is to provide a wide-variety of sports and recreation opportunities for individuals with all types of disabilities. Toward this
end, the Association will work to educate, inform and include the community in a comprehensive effort to provide year round activities. Through
participation, the athlete will realize individual accomplishment, self-esteem, respect for themselves and others.
Help us realize our vision and make a donation today! The Run, Walk & Roll 5K/10K event will support the adaptive sports programs by
providing opportunities for new uniforms, upgraded adaptive equipment, special event support and much more.
Additional information about the programs and special events provided by AzDS can be found on our web site at www.arizonadisabledsports.com.
